Description
Distribution
Ostorhinchus cyanosoma is found in the Indo-Pacific. It is specifically found in the Red Sea south to Mozambique and east to Fiji, north to the Ryukyu and Bonin islands, south to New Caledonia. It is also found in the Great barrier Reef, and the waters around Madagascar.
Diet
The Ostorhinchus cyanosoma eats planktonic crustaceans and small invertebrates.
Habitat
It lives in clear water areas of lagoons, and shallow reefs. It inhabits waters from 1 to 50m and makes its home under ledges, in holes and aggregations, and in between the spines of sea urchins. Although it can go down to 50 m it usually stays at around 1 to 15m.
