Felimida binza is a species of colorful sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Chromodorididae.

Description

It is characterized by its elongated body, which can reach about 20 millimeters in length. The color of the body is violet, with three yellow lines that run longitudinally along the body. The white line on the back of the rhinophores is characteristic. The maximum recorded length is 45 mm.

This species can be confused in the water with Felimida krohni, although it can be differentiated by various aspects: The typical coloration of Felimida binza is with yellow lines, a little orange in the front part of the edge of the mantle and in the central part. The tail of Felimida binza can be differentiated from that of Felimida krohni because the latter species has a white dorsal line and two lateral lines, while Felimida binza does not. In addition, Felimida krohni, apart from the two lateral lines on the back, usually have whitish or yellow spots between them and the central one.

Distribution and habitat

Felimida binza is restricted to the Eastern Atlantic (typical of the Canary Islands) and the Mediterranean Sea. It lives in the illuminated area (infralittoral) on rocky bottoms up to a maximum depth of about 20 meters. Young specimens often hide under stones. Minimum recorded depth is 0 m. Prey of Felimida binza includes sponge Chelonaplysilla erecta.
