Galathea balssi is a species of squat lobster found throughout the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific.Galathea balssi is a small crustacean, growing up to 10 millimetres (0.39 in) in carapace length, including the rostrum.

Description

It is reddish brown with white spots near front of carapace and one to three rows of spots toward rear. It has a triangular rostrum with three spines on each side. Its long slender arms have narrow white bands behind pincers. The multitudes of bristly hairs on the arms are used to detect food particles and the long claws quickly grab it.

Distribution

Indo-West Pacific.
