Chromis analis is a species of marine fish in the family Pomacentridae. It is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific region.

Description

A small fish, it can reach a maximum size of 17 cm in length. It has a bright yellow to brownish body sometimes with white pelvic fins, and a silvery white semi-circle below the eye. Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-13; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 11 - 13.

Distribution

Western Pacific: from the Great Barrier Reef of Australia to Japan; east to Micronesia (except Marshall Islands) and Fiji.

Habitat

Adults usually inhabit steep outer reef slopes and rocky bottoms. Found singly or in small groups. Uncommon. Diurnal species. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs.
