Fusigobius signipinnis, among various vernacular names, is a species of marine fish in the family Gobiidae.
Other names: Signal Goby or Signalfin goby.

Description

It is characterized by translucent grey body color, red-brown iris and the side of body with tiny brown spots. First two membranes of first dorsal fin are with black tip and large brown blotch below. Pelvic fins united only at bases, pelvic frenum is absent. Caudal fin is rounded. Males have a taller, more heavily pigmented first dorsal fin. This sandgoby is a small sized fish, it can grow up to a size of 49 millimetres length.

Distribution

The flasher sandgoby is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific from Indonesia and the Philippines to Japan and Australia.

Habitat

It lives on patches of fine sand near coral rock or rubble of lagoon reefs.
