Asterropteryx striata is a species of marine fish in the family Gobiidae.

Description

This fish is a small size that can reach a maximum size of 2.3 cm length. This tiny sea goby is hardly noticeable against the background of sandy soil - its usual habitat. Above the midline of the body, it has a dark stripe, on the body and fins - rows of blue-blue dots.

Distribution

It is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific area.

Habitat

It inhabits rubble bottoms in lagoons and sheltered coastal reefs. Typically hovers a short distance above the bottom. Solitary or in small group. It feeds on small benthic invertebrates, zooplankton, depths of 5-30 meters.
