Pterocaesio trilineata is a species of fusiliers found in the Indian and Pacific oceans.

Description

Body is silvery bluish, dorsal side horizontal stripes thick brown and thin light blue alternating. And dark caudal-fin tips. Ventral is whitish. 4-5 cheek scales; 20-30 predorsal scales. Supra temporal scale band confluent at dorsal midline; scaled dorsal and anal fins. Postmaxillary processes 2; posterior end of maxilla tapered. Upper peduncular scale rows usually 11 (11-12); lower peduncular scale rows usually 15 (14-17). Process on basioccipital flat for insertion of Baudelot's ligament. Head length 2.8-3.9 in SL; body depth 3.3-4.9 in SL.

Distribution

Indo-Pacific.

Habitat

Ranges widely around coral reefs. Feeds on zooplankton in midwater aggregations. Oviparous, with numerous, small pelagic eggs.
