Pomacentrus caeruleus is a Damselfish from the Western Indian Ocean. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade.
Other names: Blue Pete.
Description
It has a bright blue body having a little yellow on the bottom most belly and the caudal peduncle, pelvic, dorsal, anal and tail fins. It grows to a size of 10cm in length.
Distribution
Western Indian Ocean: East Africa (south to Durban) to Maldives. Recorded from Bali, Indonesia.
Habitat
Adults inhabit lagoon and outer reef slopes, usually over rubble near base of reefs. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs. It feeds on zooplankton, benthic invertebrates and somewhat on algae.
