Chromis chrysura is a specias of fish in the family Pomacentridae.
Other names: Robust Puller, Stout Chromis, Stout-body Chromis.

Description

It has a deep olive-green, brown to greyish puller body with a white caudal peduncle and tail, white posterior rays in the dorsal and anal fins, dark upper and lower caudal-fin rays, a pale crescent-shaped mark below the eye, and a dark vertical mark on each scale.

Distribution

Indo-West Pacific: Three isolated populations: 1) southern Japan, Philippines, Ryukyu Islands, and Taiwan; 2) Coral Sea including New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and eastern Australia; 3) Mauritius and Réunion in the western Indian Ocean.

Habitat

Adults inhabit outer coral or rocky reefs. They usually form large aggregations in shallow waters e.g. in lagoons; feeding well above the bottom on zooplankton. Diurnal species. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs.
