Pomacentrus burroughi is a species of marine damselfish in the family Pomacentridae.
Description
Adults are reddish brown. Juveniles are dark grey with blue vermiculation. Ocellus present in small juveniles and adults with a yellow blotch along the dorsal fin base in some populations. Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 15 - 16.
Distribution
Western Central Pacific: Philippines, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Palau, Indonesia.
Habitat
Adults inhabit lagoon and coastal reefs, usually on open rubble patches. They occur singly or in small groups. Feed primarily on benthic algae. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs.
