Vir philippinensis is a species of saltwater shrimp of the Palaemonidae family.
Description
Its body is transparent with purple-blue thin line on legs, claw arms and tail margin. Its antennae are dark red.
Distribution
Vir philippinensis is found from the Red Sea to the Indo-Pacific, including Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, the Philippines, Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Habitat
It is a symbiotic shrimp living together with Bubble coral (Plerogyra sinuosa) or other coralls of Physogyra genus. Bubble Coral Shrimp often live in pairs in one protected corner of the coral. It hides during the day and moves along the coral mostly at night.
