Manonichthys splendens is a species of marine fish in the family Pseudochromidae, the dottybacks. It occurs in the Indo-WestPacific and occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 13 cm in length.
Other names: Thread-finned Dottyback.
Description
Its body is covered in yellow to orange scales with a dark blue outline, making it look like lines of spots which continue in their large dorsal and anal fin. Both fins also have a bright blue rim. Its tricolored pectoral fins are yellow, black and bright blue. Caudal fin is yellow to orange. Dark stripe running through the eye.
Distribution
Eastern Indo-West Pacific: Philippines and southeastern Indonesia to Australia.
Habitat
Found in lagoon and seaward reefs. Prefers drop-offs, usually close to corals and sponges. Usually solitary, occasionally in pairs.
