Chromis xutha is a species of fish in the family Pomacentridae.

Description

It has a creamy brown body with greyish forehead and blue mouth. Pectoral fins, pelvic fins and tail are translucent. Dorsal spines (total): 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 11 - 12.

Distribution

Western Indian Ocean: Kenya and Maldives; also Tanzania, Comoro Islands, and Chagos Archipelago.

Habitat

Inhabits offshore coral reefs at depths between 6 to 65 feet (2 – 20 m) where it feeds mainly on planktonic crustaceans (copepods, mysis, and shrimp larvae), fish eggs, and algae.
