Salarias segmentatus is a species of combtooth blenny from the Western Central Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. This species reaches a length of 11 centimetres (4.3 in) TL.
Description
Dorsal spines (total): 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-19; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 17 - 20. Identified by the red spots over the back and sides towards the tail, and the large breast spot.
Distribution
Western Central Pacific: Indonesia, New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Palau in Micronesia.
Habitat
Adults are found solitary on coral outcrops. They inhabit shallow lagoon reefs, on algal covered rocks and rubble. Feed on algae growing at the coral bases.
